Integration of omics data brings in a new era

This team will collect transcriptome data of Arabidopsis and wheat as a part of international and domestic collaborative activities. The team will also integrate and analyze genomics information in response to environmental changes and hormone responses. The integrated information will be exploited to discover novel genes, compounds, and regulatory mechanisms to improve plant functions.

Content of Research

  1. Transcriptome and metabolome analysis of Arabidopsis hormone-related mutants, as international or domestic collaborations.
  2. Analysis and discovery of novel genes, compounds, and regulatory mechanisms by using integrated genomics information.
  3. Analysis of metabolic pathways, signaling pathways, and physiological roles of auxin and brassinosteroids.

Result of Research

  1. We analyzed transcriptome data from the AtGenExpress project by hierarchical clustering and developed a web-based data viewer, Cluster Cutting, to present the result. This system is open for public access at our web site, PRIMe (Platform for RIKEN Metabolomics).
  2. We identified the first auxin-biosynthesis inhibitor using genomics-based approach.
  3. We utilized this inhibitor and analyzed auxin biosynthesis pathways.
