Novel methods for measurement of living systems are making new
breakthroughs in life science. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance(NMR)
can measure diverse biomolecules including soluble and insoluble
states, if adequate nucleus are observed. Our laboratory intends
to initiate metabolic analysis by developing new methods using
an NMR-based approach, such as high quantification, non-invasive
measurements, localized spectroscopy in vivo, selectivity of nuclear
environments, versatility of pre- treatments of the samples, and
validity of structure analysis of diverse biomolecules including
stereo-isomers. This will be achieved by uniform stable isotope
labeling of higher plants allowing application of multi-dimensional
NMR experiments used in protein structure determination. Furthermore,
we will develop the methods for metabolic dynamics and network
analysis toward plant biomass utilization, for better improvements
of food nutrition and global environment. Content of Research 1. Advancement of the uniform stable isotope labeling methodology in living tissues 2.Technological advancement of solution / solid-state NMR measurements for studies of metabolite mixtures 3. Development of the methods for metabolic dynamics and network analysis toward plant biomass utilization
